Some simple things for this year:
- Run smarter. I ran two great races on consecutive days in November. So I know this can be done. And those were smartly run races (a rarity for me) without any planning.
- Log miles only to see when to get new shoes. I do this all in my head, so it’s an approximation. I run more by feel than anything else, which probably explains why I can’t figure out pacing by feel all that well.
- Try not to wear a watch. Related to feel, like #2.
- Have fun! If it’s torture, why do it? #2 and #3 help make running more fun. And #1 is the payoff.
