Were you a slutty something for Halloween?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

We got an ad flyer from Halloween Adventure a few days ago. All the women’s costumes looked to be a variation of slutty -blank-. For example: slutty nurse, slutty maid, etc. Sadly, they don’t have the flyer online, so you can’t see what I’m talking about. You can easily find some examples on their site. Not that I minded the selection shown, it just seemed rather slanted in the slutty direction.

Yankees go with Girardi

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

It took me a while to digest the news that Joe Girardi will now be managing the Yankees. I have stated that I am very partial to Don Mattingly, but I agree with the logic of hiring Girardi. If the Yankees had hired Mattingly and the team didn’t perform well next year, the fans could turn on one of the most beloved Yankees ever. (OK, I admit that it’s a little corny to say that, but then you obviously never saw the guy play and the selflessness that he brought to the table. It was always team first.)

Now on to bigger things, like figuring out who will play third base, re-signing Mariano Rivera, and getting some younger starting pitching. Get busy!

An open note to Hank and Hal Steinbrenner

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Hank and Hal,

After being in charge of the greatest franchise in sports for all of ten minutes, you managed to fuck things up. Congratulations. You could have just fired Joe Torre. At least that would have been direct and shown some balls. Instead you had to take the wimpy way out and offer a deal you knew would be rejected.

Maybe you should get a teensy bit of credit for not even considering to interview Bobby Valentine to manage. Though you will be better served in the short term by hiring Don Mattingly. (Article from official Yankees site; article from ESPN.) The current players (including the ones you’d like to keep for next year) like him and the fans love him. He’s the smart choice. Don’t screw this up.

Now incorporating AppleIPWatch.info!

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

I am exhausted to announce that RandomFailure.com now incorporates my other blog, AppleIPWatch.info, which was about Apple patents and related intellectual property (IP) issues. I simply did not have the time to maintain two blogs. As those who’ve read either blog might reply, I never really maintained one blog on a regular schedule. My point exactly. So now there will be a really random collection of stuff on this blog. For now, the links will be jumping across the sites, until I figure a sane way to convert some internal URLs over.

Tankees once again

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Ugh. Another baseball season over. Another ugly, early postseason exit for my beloved Yankees. I’m not like this guy who gave up — pussy. Of course it’s always more fun to win. But only an irrational person would expect to win all the time. That would be Mr. Steinbrenner. I thought he’d have mellowed out by now, at age 77. Apparently not. Though there are sensible options.

And for the record, such that it is, I would prefer Don Mattingly as manager to Joe Girardi.

No injury!

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Well, it took two doctor visits, an inconclusive X-ray, and an MRI, but it turns out that I didn’t injure myself, like I thought I did. That’s a relief. Now I can run again, much to Karen’s displeasure (since I get up at 5:45 am to run, I wake her up unintentionally).
