No more CARS?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Can it really be true? Was it some figment of my imagination? Read the post and see for yourself. While I didn’t comment on all the Crazy Apple Rumors, I’ve been a loyal reader for some time now (I forget how long). I will miss Jennifer frickin’ Connelly, Pudding over IP, and speculation about when Apple will introduce Lesbian Ninja Sexbots. If none of this makes any sense to you and you think I’ve completely lost my mind, you’ve never read CARS. Shame on you. :-p

Baby’s room is just about ready

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

After spending the weekend doing stuff around the house, with the tremendous help of my father in law (Thanks, Ed!), we’re just about ready for Cletus to arrive. We just need to hang a few pictures and other decorations and the room will be all ready. Then there’s a real name to pick out, since Cletus Ann just won’t cut it. I think I’m more tired from lifting stuff, moving stuff, hanging stuff, drilling into walls, and generally being on my feet and moving all day that I would otherwise have been if I went into the office and worked. It’s a nice change - I should try it more often. :-)

My Macworld predictions were wrong!

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

I’m stunned. Really stunned. Darling Wife just finished the piece of cake, which I didn’t think she’d eat. :-(

Oh, wait. I got off-track. I meant: I’m stunned that none of my Macworld predictions came true. I thought wireless Pudding would have been a winner. But then again, pudding is already wireless - you can take it wherever you want.

If you missed Steve Jobs’ keynote (aka, the Stevenote), check the CARS transcript (just because it’s funnier than the real thing).

But seriously. $1.00 extra for HD downloads? Does it cost extra to make them? I know the high def DVDs are more expensive (I’ll let the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD folks fight to the death before I get a new player), but I didn’t think there’s be more to it for a download. Mayhaps a little more strain on the servers and my Internet connection, but is it worth $1.00? I dunno. I’d probably have to get an Apple TV first.

Oh, and the MacBook Air does look cool. I am looking for a new computer. But is it worth $1800? With only a 13 inch screen, no replaceable battery, no included optical drive, and no Ethernet port? I dunno. If I go with a laptop, I’m leaning towards a MacBook Pro - more bang for the buck. Doesn’t look as cool, but still…

Some last-minute Macworld predictions

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Cross-posted from my comment on CARS.

Some last-minute Stevenote predictions:

  1. Ponies. With Pants as an accessory. (Hey, if iPods can have Socks, why can’t Ponies have Pants?)
  2. Pudding. In three varieties: iPudding, Pudding over IP, and wireless Pudding.
  3. One More Thing: Sexbots. Late 2008. As long as that bitch Sarah Connor doesn’t screw things up again. Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to keep time traveling to stop her from stopping us? If we could just get her toothbrush…

T.O. is a puss-puss

Monday, January 14th, 2008

To quote my Darling Wife. Don’t believe me? Take a look at this picture.

T.O. crying

You’d figure a professional athlete could handle losing once in a while. Oh, it’s the playoffs? Then you should’ve stepped it up. Now, go have a good cry and watch the other games at home on TV. Damn, I hate that guy!

Tell this dude he’s small

Monday, January 14th, 2008

I was in the bookstore today and was browsing over the magazines, when I saw this ginormous dude on a cover. Truly fits the meaning of grotesque. (And if you don’t believe me, you can look it up. Here’s the link.) The only thing I could think of was “He’s small.” Muscleheads hate it when you call them small.

Is he able to wear anything other than tank tops? Can he reach to blow his nose? Or to wipe his ass? While I imagine that he could literally tear me in half, I’m not worried. I could always outrun him. I mean, look at the legs! Do you think this guy could run fast? I don’t.

No Golden Globes. And nobody cares.

Monday, January 7th, 2008

The Golden Globes have been canceled, pretty much. Reduced to a “news conference”. (See articles from E! and the New York Times.) Does anyone outside of Hollywood still care about any of these self-congratulating awards shows? If the ratings are really bad (which I guess they will be), does that mean that the show won’t be broadcast anymore? Of course, that would mean that NBC would likely fill the block of time with “reality” programming, since without writers that’s what we’re reduced to. Though you wouldn’t know that from NBC’s Web site, which includes a banner ad stating: “Strike? What strike? NBC is all-new, all week.”

It’s rather obvious from me making three posts in a single day that I’m not sitting in front of the TV.

Dr. Phil is a fucktard

Monday, January 7th, 2008

I’m sick of this a-hole. Really.

We, the intelligent citizens of America, hate you Dr. Phil. Specifically because of your continued insistence on forcefully injecting yourself into the headlines for no other reason than the fact that you’re a publicity whore. See a specific example in his visit to the train wreck known as Britney Spears (link to Reuters article).

Please go away. Now.

The Wire is back!

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Aah! Like ice cream on a hot summer day, HBO’s The Wire is back for its fifth (and final) season. To be able to fully appreciate this show, you have to be willing to dedicate yourself to watching the entire season. It’s like a good book - you can’t know how it will turn out only a few pages in. The only “surprise” from episode 1 was that we didn’t get to see Omar (by far, the best character on TV). I imagine that we will be seeing him quite a lot later.

Happy 2008!

A few days late.  :-)

I realized that I hadn’t posted in over a month. Guess I must’ve been busy. And then tonight, I got sidetracked by taking down the Christmas tree and updating the WordPress software behind all this (which takes me a few minutes so I don’t screw anything up).

I had thought for about a second about trying Blog365, but realized that there’s no way I’d be able to do it, especially since I hadn’t posted in a month. Maybe I’ll just try to fix all the Apple patent related stuff (most of the internal links in the posts are dead now, since I killed off AppleIPWatch.info in the beginning of December). And post a little more frequently. I do have an idea about something I’d like to try out here, but need to investigate to see if there’s a plugin to do it. Otherwise, it’ll take me forever to get it figured out right…

Anyway, have a great year!
